LEBC's Enterprise Team also organise a number of activities which specifically support students with learning difficulties or disabilities, such as careers awareness and work simulation exercises. Advice and support is available for work related and skills development activities to bring the world outside the classroom alive whilst also developing skills for the students.
Volunteering
Volunteers from business are required to support these programmes who are able to work with students with specific needs. The support can range from half a day to a full day and volunteers will be clearly briefed prior to any involvement, and activley supported on the day. Supporting this programme can be a staff development opportunity for business as it encourages communication, team leadership, confidence and creates a 'feel good' factor amongst employees.
Schools The main activity is a programme called "Life Skills". This enables students to gain life skills such as using a telephone, first aid, personal hygiene and care, to more advanced skills of building a brick wall. The activities take place over a school day with support from various businesses. To discuss this or any specific needs please contact the team.
