Excellence In Enterprise Awards
Almost 500 students, parents, teachers, business representatives and Civic Dignitaries attended the Excellence in Enterprise Awards Ceremony hosted by Leicestershire Education Business Company (LEBC) at the Samworth Enterprise Academy. The Awards began in October 2007, with 23 local schools taking part, involving young people aged 14-16 years, in 15 challenges set by local businesses, with the top three groups of students for each receiving certificates and prizes. Ex Leicester Tigers player, Matt Poole compered the evening, introducing sponsors, announcing winners and generally keeping everyone entertained.

The High Sheriff of Leicestershire said afterwards: “It was obvious that all the young people present thoroughly enjoyed themselves, which was a just reward for their efforts”.

Sarah Shepherd of Just Fair Trade was involved in Excellence In Enterprise for her second year, and said: “We really enjoy working with LEBC and seeing the students get excited about subjects that they might not have the opportunity to get as involved in, without LEBC’s Excellence in Enterprise Awards, such as Fair Trade.”

The event was also attended by the Chairman of Leicestershire County Council, the Mayors of Melton, Hinckley and Bosworth and Oadby and Wigston as well as the Chairmen of Harborough, North West Leicestershire and Blaby districts.
