Young Apprentices need experience

Bankfield Financial Advisors are committed to offering a work experience placement one day a week to Ryan Brownett who is studying for a Young Apprenticeship in Business Administration. This will give him an opportunity to build his portfolio of experience throughout the programme and achieve his Young Apprenticeship accreditation. Bankfield recognise the value of working with young people in this way and find that the programme offers benefits to the business too. Employees can enhance their own professional development by taking on a training and coaching role with a student.

Andy Tuck, Operations Manager said: “Too many companies are ready to discard the value of young people today. Bankfield feel it is essential to help young people gain the skills to move into the work place.”

Ryan, a student attending Beaumont Leys School for his national curriculum subjects, said: “Everyone at Bankfield is very friendly and I have gained a lot of experience. I have learnt a lot more than I thought I would have through going on work experience.”

The Young Apprenticeship programme is aimed at motivated and able 14-16 year olds who are still in school but who are attracted to a more practical style of learning. At the heart is the drive to close the skills gap through the combination of academic learning and hands on experience.

More companies are needed to offer placements to young people. If your company or organisation would like to discuss offering a placement please contact Virginia Toon at LEBC on 0116 240 7000.
