Cite Digital Media Solutions recently hosted a visit from Sumeya Bhikhu, ICT teacher at The City of Leicester College, to give her an insight into the creative processes. Director Dafydd Prichard explained how they use website design, ecommerce, search engine optimisation, online marketing, emarketing, content management, branding and identity which are all services provided by the city centre based business. Sumeya gained an understanding of software packages and an appreciation for the skills and qualities required to be a successful part of this ever changing sector.
Commenting on his experience, Dafydd said: “As a growing media company, we understand the importance of helping prepare the next generation of creative and technical staff. We hope that by taking part in this initiative we can help teachers gain a better understanding of the processes involved within our industry.”
Reflecting on her experience at Cite, Sumeya commented:”It was really beneficial having an insight into what the company does, especially seeing some of the techniques they use to make websites more popular. This is something I can take back to enrich my teaching and the students will benefit greatly.”
The Teacher Placement initiative forms part of Leicestershire Education Business Company’s (LEBC) offer to better prepare students for work. Rachael Clarke, Teacher Placement co-ordinator commented: “Teachers come back from a placement feeling their subject will be enriched by the work based scenarios which they have experienced. Business benefits include staff motivation and renewed enthusiasm for their work, along with a clearer understanding of the current developments in education. The two sides engage fully in a placement and most importantly the students benefit greatly and are better prepared for their future working lives.”
If your company could offer a Teacher placement, or for more information on the variety of other education business link activity available please visit www.leics-ebc.org.uk or call LEBC on (0116) 240 7000.
