A Night Among the IT Leaders- LEBC’s Evie Lea Attends WCIT Summer Banquet
Evie Lea, the STEM Ambassador Coordinator at LEBC, recently attended the prestigious Summer Banquet of the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists (WCIT) in London.
The event was held at the historic Mansion House, the event brought together leaders from across the IT industry for an evening of celebration, networking, and learning.
The WCIT, the 100th Livery Company of the City of London, is dedicated to giving back to the IT sector and the wider community. Its focus centres on four key areas: Charity, Education, Industry and Commerce, and Fellowship. Through these pillars, the WCIT raises funds for worthy causes, promotes careers in IT, fosters discussions on critical industry issues, and cultivates a strong network among IT professionals.
For Evie, a particularly significant aspect of the event was connecting with Jane Kimberlin, a Court Liveryman at the WCIT, in person for the first time. Having collaborated virtually on the Young Coders Competition for nearly three years, the WCIT Summer Banquet provided the perfect platform for a long-awaited face-to-face meeting.
The Young Coders Competition, a project Evie and Jane work on together, offers a fantastic opportunity for young people (aged 8-14) to gain hands-on experience in coding with Scratch. Open to children in school years 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8, the competition allows them to work individually or in teams of 2-6 to create their coding projects. It’s a fantastic initiative that WCIT has generously supported through past donations, helping to make the competition successful.
LEBC is proud of Evie’s involvement with such a distinguished organisation. The WCIT’s dedication to advancing the IT industry and giving back to the community aligns with LEBC’s values. We look forward to hearing more about Evie’s experience and the valuable connections made at the event, particularly those that can further benefit the Young Coders Competition.
