Appointment of new CEO
We are delighted to announce Ian Caldwell as our new CEO.
Ian has been CEO at Menphys, a charity that supports children and young people with disabilities, since 2018. He will take up his new position mid October.
Ian takes over from Interim CEO Rachael Clarke, who has led the charity for the last 18 months, and will return to her role of NCS Contracts Manager.
Chair Barbara Chantrill MBE, said: “The trustees are grateful to Rachael and the senior management team for their combined commitment and energy during this time of transition.
“We’d also like to acknowledge the flexibility and focus on retaining quality that they have achieved during this time.
Speaking about Ian’s appointment, she added: “Ian joins us at an exciting time with a busy year ahead.
“We’re planning to support more than 6,000 young people into work experience placements, and engage more than 1,000 STEM Ambassadors to inspire our future engineers, scientists, coders, researchers and innovators.
“We’ll also be giving 11,000-plus young people in schools across the city and county the opportunity to receive impartial Careers Guidance and to meet business volunteers.”
Ian moved into the charity sector after extensive experience in operations management within the private sector.
His leadership career in the charity sector began soon after Menphys had its funding removed by Leicestershire County Council.
Ian led Menphys through the Pandemic, helping children and young people with disabilities – and their families – access support at a difficult time.
The charity has also received a number of honours during his time as CEO.
He said: “Supporting young people is at the heart of what LEBC does and is something I am passionate about.
“Collaboration between education and employment has the potential to significantly boost the regional and national economy.
“I’m looking forward to building and developing relationships with businesses to help young people into employment and achieve their potential.”
