Engage with Schools and Colleges

We can provide opportunities for you to promote your sector and job opportunities to young people. You can:

  • Give talks to groups of young people. This is what leaders of schools and colleges want more of, from research carried out by us
  • Become a STEM Ambassador and join a network of volunteers who champion STEM careers. Volunteers are provided with guidance and training for working with schools, a free enhanced DBS check and are covered by the scheme’s insurance once fully approved. We only ask that Ambassadors commit to a minimum one activity per year but many do a lot more
  • Set a curriculum project on a topic which you are knowledgeable in
  • Become a mentor to help vulnerable young people to achieve their potential.

You will gain:

  • Access to young people to promote your sector and job opportunities which you have
  • Personal development, e.g. experience of presenting information to groups of young people.
  • New contacts through networking with others
  • Confidence and understanding through the training and briefings which we will provide for you
  • A sense of pride and motivation, knowing that you are making a difference. It is evidence of your commitment to Corporate, Social, Responsibility (CSR)
  • Experience of mentoring and coaching a young person in need.

"I really enjoyed the event this afternoon, the warm welcome from the staff and pupils, and of course the students searching questions made it a rewarding and engaging afternoon. The format really worked very well. Thanks again for organising this."

"Our main objectives for participating in this event was supporting the local community, encouraging young people to pursue a career in law and raising the profile of the firm in the local area. The information beforehand was very helpful, provided within plenty of time and responses to questions were quick and helpful. Great event - well organised."

This has been without doubt one of the most rewarding and fulfilling things I’ve been involved with. Going into schools and preparing students from the outside world. Mock interviews, talks, careers discussions and role plays. I’ve met some amazing young people and a super group of like-minded business people. There’s a scheme like this in every county and I encourage you to seek it out and give a little back.
