Partnership in Action – LEBC & Aggregate Industries
Last week LEBC hosted a full week of World of Work activities for students from St Pauls Catholic School, with the support of our employer partners.
The student’s first day saw Aggregate Industries set the students a Business Challenge. Aggregate Industries introduced their business to the students and raised the student’s awareness of the industry and career opportunities within the sector. Employer partners snap up the opportunity to support an LEBC Business Challenge event, as it enables them to engage with local schools and young minds. The challenge allows a business to learn from and gain insight from the younger generation on a real business challenge of their choice, its an innovative opportunity to get young minds working on innovative solutions to a real business brief!

Students who presented their ideas to the business and won the business challenge have shared their feedback.
“Our task for that day was to improve their website, me and my group took a look at their social media and website to find out more about the company. We made a short but concise presentation, with facts and figures about what can improve a website, which we then relayed to the company. We gave feedback on how they could improve the layout of their website and social media platforms to better improve efficiency in finding information, and how it could better appeal to their target audience of youth, women, and minorities.
We found the activity extremely useful as it helped to develop our teamwork, listening and speaking skills. It also helped us to develop our ability to follow a brief and work with a client. We also found the activity highly enjoyable as it gave us the chance to interact and cooperate with others in a helpful environment, as a group this was one of our favourite parts about the activity.
Thank you for choosing us as the winning team and making our first day of the World of Work week amazing.” St Pauls Catholic School, Winning Team – Monday’s Business Challenge

Each student left with an Aggregates goody bag and a better understanding of the world of work and real-life business challenges.
LEBC are extremely grateful to employers such as Aggregates Industries for supporting our school engagement events, and for the business representatives time, energy and commitment to supporting students and providing world of work experiences. LEBC work hard to support students to transition from education to the world of work effectively and couldn’t reach as many students without the support of our employer partners. Thank you again to Aggregate Industries for supporting LEBC’s World of Work week with St Pauls Catholic School. The student feedback says it all – an amazing experience for those involved.
