Sue Tilley

With over 40 years of experience spanning the private and public sectors, I have dedicated my career to business development, innovation, and fostering strong partnerships between industry and education. As a Trustee of the Leicestershire Education Business Company (LEBC), I am committed to bridging the gap between education and the workplace, ensuring that young people have access to the skills, guidance, and opportunities needed to succeed.

My professional journey began in 1978 when I co-founded Classy Rags, a women’s fashion business that successfully pivoted to corporate clothing before being acquired by the Cadogan Group. This early entrepreneurial experience provided me with first-hand insight into business growth, strategy, and adaptability. I went on to hold senior roles within the Multifabs Group and Alexandra plc, where I focused on business development, sales, and marketing within the corporate sector.

In 2008, I transitioned into the public sector, leading economic development and innovation initiatives at the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP). During my tenure, I worked closely with businesses, universities, and local authorities to drive regional growth, develop skills programmes, and support investment in key industries.

Now, as the founder of Sue Tilley Associates, I continue to work with businesses and organisations, helping them to unlock growth opportunities through strategic development, funding access, and innovation support. My extensive network across education, government, and industry allows me to connect businesses with the right expertise and resources.

I am passionate about supporting young people in preparing for their future careers. Through my role at LEBC, I contribute to initiatives that help students develop employability skills, gain workplace experience, and access career guidance, ensuring a strong talent pipeline for the region’s businesses.
