The Value of Work Experience: Yafet’s Two Weeks at LEBC

We’d like to say a big thank you to Yafet, LEBC’s Work Experience Student from Fullhurst Community College, for all his hard work during his two-week placement with us. From day one, he got stuck in, showed real enthusiasm, and was keen to learn as much as possible.

He supported the team with a wide range of tasks, both in the office and out at school engagement events such as Global Leicester and Mock Interviews. He quickly picked up new skills, including using office equipment, web-based platforms such as Canva, and Excel shortcuts, all of which helped speed up the work he was doing. One of his biggest achievements was processing over 900 mock interview evaluation forms from five different schools — a task he became impressively quicker at, cutting the time down from two days to just one hour by the final school.

Yafet came to his placement with an interest in accounting and spent valuable time with Kate, our Finance Manager, supporting finance tasks. This helped confirm his interest in a future career in accounting. He also wasn’t afraid to get involved in more creative and practical jobs, designing our digital Christmas card, helping decorate the Christmas tree (tinsel skills included), and updating our Meet the Team board, so keep an eye out for this when visiting our office.

Throughout his placement, Yafet showed strong time management, good communication skills, and growing confidence. Having a work experience student, especially one as committed as Yafet, is incredibly valuable to a business, not only for the support he provided but also for the fresh perspective and energy he brought to the team.

We’d like to thank him again for all his efforts and wish him the very best for the future.
