Careers Advisor in Secondary Schools across Leicestershire and Northamptonshire

We are looking to recruit a Careers Advisor to join our dynamic School Careers team! If you enjoy helping young people to gain skills and knowledge to make informed decision about their futures then we would like to hear from you.

LEBC offers a range of services including work experience, Careers Advice at Schools in Leicester, Leicestershire and the surrounding area giving young people a focus on working life and personal development. We also help employers to engage with schools and colleges to raise awareness of their sector opportunities and to recruit apprentices.

Job Summary:

To support the delivery of our Careers Education Service to young people in local schools and colleges, as well as those in the community.

To empower young people to make informed careers and education decisions, building confidence and a greater awareness of the skills needed to be successful in the world of work.

To understand the needs of all young people including those with physical or learning disabilities and those at risk of becoming NEET, to enable the appropriate delivery of Careers Information, Advice and Guidance in group and 1-2-1 settings.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide impartial information, advice and guidance (IAG) to young people in schools and colleges across Leicestershire.
  • Complete action plans thoroughly and accurately with successful student progression at the forefront. Achieve consistently high levels of customer satisfaction. This will be monitored through student and teacher feedback.
  • Deliver 1-2-1 and group sessions to help young people with CV preparation, interview skill techniques, confidence building as well as learning more about job market opportunities.
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of current and topical workshop activities, to support young people’s employability skills development, and to enable schools and colleges to work towards the Gatsby Benchmarks.

Ideal Candidate

We are looking to recruit somebody with extensive knowledge across a variety of careers and employability topics, with previous experience of working with young people, ideally in an educational setting.

You will hold a Careers Guidance qualification, ideally Level 6, or must be willing to work towards this. A Careers Guidance qualification at Level 4, or significant comparable experience will be considered.

You must be an excellent communicator, dynamic, and have the ability to work with different groups including those at risk of becoming NEET, and individuals with special edcuational needs and disabilities.

Above all else you must be passionate about supporting young people to succeed.

Job Circumstances

We are looking to recruit on part time, term-time only basis. 2 or 3 days a week available.
