“Through LEBC I have met hundreds of young people as a STEM Ambassador and enjoy helping young people to understand what they need to understand and the qualifications they need to help them into the world of work.” School of Thought, Business Volunteer

LEBC is the home of STEM Ambassadors in the East Midlands.
Would you like to join our fantastic team of STEM volunteers and inspire young people in schools and colleges about STEM careers?
Registering as a STEM Ambassador involves 3 steps and requires a commitment to support at least 1 event a year:
- Apply via the national STEM Ambassador website
- Complete the DBS
- Complete the online induction and you’re all set to start supporting STEM events in local schools and community settings
We’ll support you throughout the process and ensure you have all you need to get started.
As a STEM Ambassador, you’ll be joining a 650-strong network of professionals across the East Midlands region in:
- Sharing your real-world experiences to ignite curiosity and interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics
- Engaging and exciting young minds, using relatable and interactive methods to promote diverse opportunities within STEM
- Exemplifying real-world STEM success and tailoring discussions to the requirements of students, parents and educators
- Encouraging students (and their parents) to pursue their dreams in STEM by providing unforgettable educational experiences
STEM events and activities that Ambassadors get involved in include:
- Giving a talk to a group young people about your STEM career/interest
- Judging a STEM Competition in a local school
- Hosting students on Work Experience
- Hosting a small group of students on a tour of your organisations premises
- Delivering short activities in schools, such as K’Nex challenges.
- Supporting Careers events in schools
“I volunteer for LEBC because I was never afforded the opportunity to chat to business people when I was a student so I believe in the program. And its good to offer my experience in a very niche field to show the students that there are more post school jobs than they might think exist.” Tracemetals, Business Volunteer
