The Young Coders Competition is an initiative aimed at helping to make teaching coding more accessible

The Young Coders Competition is an initiative aimed at helping to make teaching coding more accessible. The competition is open for children aged 7 to 14 who can work individually or in teams of 2 – 6 to create their project. It runs internationally and is free to enter. With prize money up for grabs for the winning UK schools!

We will provide you with FREE session planning resources to be used as part of the Computing curriculum in your school, an extracurricular club, or by a parent or guardian with their child at home. Register to get access to:

  • A 12 week lesson plan for absolute beginners (children and teachers!)
  • A shorter 6 week version for those with a little experience using Scratch.

Each year children are challenged to make a computer game using Scratch that aligns with a particular theme; this year’s theme is “A Future in STEM”. Jobs in science, technology, engineering and maths are increasingly important in dealing with some of the most critical world issues we have today. We would like to see a game that can be used to teach their peers about any job in STEM that they find interesting.

If you want to learn more about the competition, check out the website or register your interest here for access to the FREE resources!
